Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security, said on Sunday that police will fight these crimes vigorously as they negatively effect the national economy.
“The enforcement of intellectual property rights is significant,” he said. “The UAE is active in protecting the rights of international brand owners.”
Lt. General Tamim made the remarks during the third conference on intellectual property rights held yesterday at the Culture and Science Association in Dubai.
According to Michael Ellis, director of the Interpol’s special anti-counterfeiting unit, it is important to hold such meetings because Dubai is a hub for commerce and technology and it is the bridge between the Middle East and the West.
